MANILA - Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino on May 12 looked set to become the new Philippine president, though final election results may not be known for several days.

The reserved 50-year-old Aquino pledged to fight corruption after riding a wave of support from the "People Power" movement of his democracy hero parents.

Aquino steamrollered his rivals, with the latest results giving him more than 40 percent of the estimated 37.5 million votes cast in the country's first automated polls.
