SOMERVILLE, Mass. — Two local organizations are joining forces to make sure Greater Boston’s South Asian-American population participates in the 2010 Census, bringing adequate funding to local hospitals, senior centers, schools, roadways and more.

Census 2000 revealed sizable South Asian populations in several Massachusetts communities, including Burlington, Woburn, Lowell, Framingham, Shrewsbury,

Westborough, Malden, Somerville and Cambridge. In order to ensure that South Asians are well represented in local and state government, it is important that the 2010 Census accurately reflects the true South Asian population.
