For more than 16 years, FIRM has worked with refugees and immigrants to help them build a better life and build communities of hope in the Central Valley of California.  We’ve grown into a complex ministry that engages in culturally-sensitive work with issues related to health, housing, employment, child development, education, citizenship, tenant’s rights,  and so much more! We partner with a wide variety of churches and other organizations to accomplish this work.  We’d love to have you join us!

The Hmong Health Collaborative Program uses culturally appropriate and faith-based PICO Community Organizing to guide New Americans into becoming leaders to solve health care and access problems for their communities, and to provide care and transport. Our goals and purposes include:

  • Work with Hmong community members as leaders to identify policy and systems changes that can reduce health disparities and improve access to care for Hmong.
  • Utilize cultural competency to improve the effectiveness of research, advocacy and organizing efforts.
  • Provide a forum for creative problem-solving of barriers to care.
  • Be educated about, and advocate for, the health needs of the Hmong community.

For more information on the Hmong Health Collaborative, contact Rev. Sharon Stanley, Program Director.
